How to make character sheets for a roleplaying game
Me and my friend are starting a pen-and-paper role-playing game and i want to know what kind of programs are available out there to make the character sheets for it. I think that Adobe Acrobat could help but I'm wondering if there is a freeware or another program written specifically for this kind of task. I am in the process of creating the skill trees and the game structure but I just need a way to create the sheets.
I probably could try and use a template in Microsoft Publisher or Word.
Any ideas?

Where can I get some Freeware games for PC
I don't mean pirated games, I asked this question earlier, but I guess I should have worded it properly. Someone even called me cheap.
I'm not cheap, I'm just on a tight budget right now. Student Loan payments are a pain in the old glutimus maximus.

Game Development Conundrum
Okay.
Here I go.
I've been working with Game maker since 04 and am very used to it.
I've dabbled in and out of computer lanagues as the concept of using a "game maker" doesn't seem that fulfilling to me.
I don't want to be the guy who says "look at me, check this game out! made it with GAME MAKER", that just sounds funny, but I don't need to be the guy who says "Look Ma! I did it all by myself!" either.
To get to the nitty gritty, I've been in a very frusturated state of mind. My question is: what is a language geared towards game development that will help me out in the long run?
Python, Ruby, Smalltalk, Java, Basic and most non C oriented lanagues I've checked out. But what is actually worth investing time to fully understand and work with?
then there's "vanilla C", C++, and C#.
This question can also be applied to engines used.
do I want the simplicity or the quality, or can I have both?
do I want the mammoth and intimidating giant of an engine with a rather limited license or the small town freeware where the licnese is nearly boundless, but a rather limited collection of support and a community that consists of the next door neighbor?
To get it off my chest.
What is the best for me?
if you can read some of the words in context and sort of sense where I am going with this, I'd really appreciate it.
Any additional insight, resources are highly appreciated and I'd thank you for helping me out.

I understand that game maker is geared towards the newbie game developer, and I appreciate your input, but I need more than the common sense stuff. I've indulged myself with 3d studio max, maya, blender, modo and so on, as well as 3d engines, I guess I really don't know how to put it, but I need help with specific engines or tools that pay off once you get the hang of them.

Questions about the Apple MacBook
Hello, on Sunday I will be getting my first mac. I've been doing more research on the MacBook ever since I decided on getting one and have a few questions.
I know that the MacBook cannot run Microsoft Word, but can run Office 2008. In all honesty, Office 2008 is just too pricey. I'm not paying for my MacBook, but my father will. It just seems I'm asking too much if I ask him to get me Office 2008. Is there an alternative way of being able to write research papers?
Also, what about a memory stick? If there is an alternative way to write a research paper on my MacBook, save it to a memory stick, and plug it into the library's Windows computers, will the Windows computer be able to read my information on the memory stick since the information was taken from a Mac program?
Also, any possible way I could get the Office for free? I doubt it, but doesn't hurt to ask! :)
And games, my boyfriend wants to play games once I get my MacBook. Any type of freeware games such as Solitaire or Spider Solitaire that I am able to get?
Thanks for the help. :)

Where can I buy downloadable games for mac
People are always asking about freeware, but what about even better games that you can download for a price? Do they only have extremely simple games like tetris, and word games?
