What kind of mindgames is my boyfriend playing with me
I posted this problem and people insist he is playing "mind games" with me - which I just don't understand. Please help.
It's a lot of reading but I'll give ten points for the best answer.
I'm 30 years old and I started dating a guy who is 35 about 2 months ago. He's divorced and I've never married, we both don't have kids.
I really like him and find him very good looking but I don't think the relationship is going very well. He comes from the same ethnic background as myself, so things are going very traditional - which I like - we kind of started dating with the idea of seeing if we are compatible for marriage (even though we didn't say it to each other like that). His mom and my mom were friends very briefly before we were introduced.
He lives with him mom and she is a total nutjob. He even told me to ignore her a few times. He works but she controls his finance. She told me he can't take me out (for dinner, movies) because it costs too much money. She also told me that she wants him to learn how to stay at home and once he's learned this - then he can take me out. I don't really care so much about the "going out" - I am happy with a walk in the park or a picnic by the beach for free.
But the problem is, I kind of find him boring and I'm not sure if he's into me. I used to go to his house every weekend, to spend time with him, but he would either come home late on a Friday night or spend time on Saturday napping or watching t.v. After about 4 weeks of this, I finally told him I am bored at his place and I would rather see him in public places. I told him we could always meet halfway between my place and his place and we could do things that are free.
I didn't think he would call me ever again, because I know guys do things to piss off their girlfriend so the GIRL does the breaking up (not them). But lo and behold, he continued calling me and we even met a few times. Yesterday I was hoping we would see each other but he said he's too tired. He told me I could come to his place but I reminded him of our conversation and that I am willing to meet him halfway. He said he's tired, etc. etc. and I said that's fine. I was going to ask him, "what's the point of dating then?" but he kept saying, "we'll talk about Saturday we'll talk about Saturday" so I didn't really get the opportunity.
About 20 minutes after I spoke to him his mom calls my cellphone. I don't like her, so I told my mom to answer it. She told my mom that my boyfriend invited me over to their place and wanted to take me out (??) but I refused him so he got upset and went out. She also said it probably means the relationship is over and that he'll find someone else....
WTH??
I don't want to hold this guy's mom against him, but I just don't understand what the heck is going on here? He said he's too tired to see me, he is going out a few minutes later, his mom is calling my cellphone and saying all this crap?
I would like to know where the "mind games" falls into place.
1. What kind of mind game is he playing?
2. How is he playing it?
3. What is he hoping to achieve out of all this?

Need party games for a picnic party
I'm looking for some good party games for an upcoming "picnic party" we are having in a few weeks. We're inviting a few of our family friends and their children over and eating a picnic dinner, and watching a movie on a projector outside at dusk. Activities we have planned so far are swimming and making smores, but we are looking for good party games/activities for the children. There will be around 30 kids, most of them ages 3-8. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Fun things to do with kids
I'm looking for some fun, inexpensive (and preferably close to home) things to do with my nieces next weekend. The oldest girl is ten (and in her sullen, I don't wanna phase, but generally happy to hang out with me and her sister) and the other is a mature six.
We've already got swimming and a picnic on the list, and possibly a game night, but I'd like to keep them from spending most of the weekend in front of the TV. ;)
ETA: We live in the middle of no where-no zoos, museums, aquaria, or amusement parks for at least an hour drive.

confederate flag at a 4th of July celebration
Every year on the 4th of July, my wife and I attend a neighborhood parade held in the River Park area in Sacramento California. The parade consists of mostly kids on tricycles , bikes and wagons, Engine 8 from the neighborhood fire station shows up and there are a few bands along the route. At the end of the parade there is a huge picnic at Glenn Hall park with hot dogs ice cream a huge bounce house and games for the kids. It's a typical Norman Rockwell scene and the entire neighborhood shows up.
Last year at the parade there was this white guy, he looked like an average joe, riding his bike in the parade with his wife and little daughter with, of all things, a confederate flag flapping on the back of his bicycle. I was shocked and more than a little offended. After all here we are celebrating America's birthday along with it's many freedoms and he chooses to wave a flag that symbolizes slavery and divisiveness.
I was going to confront the guy but my wife insisted i not make a scene, but the more I thought about it the more it made me angry.
My question: If this A hole shows up this year waving his confederate flag should I confront him or just ignore his ignorance?
P.S. Please do not lecture me on the importance of "freedom of speech"!

My husband has never cheated on me but is just very neglectful and impossible to communicate with Divorce
My husband and I have been together for almost nine years and we have 2 kids together. I'll be 30 later this year. and he never acklnowledges me on our anniversaires, my birthdays, mothers day, valentines day etc. He is very critical of our daughter (she's 6 years old) and me. He is stingy with compliments and generous with criticisms over the tiniest habits he claims bother him (he hates it if I yawn, wipe the corners of my mouth, pace when I talk on the phone etc.). He hates it when out daughter bites her nails, dances, sings, or gets excited about something. He's just mean.
Hes good looking- VERY good looking, He has a job (as do I), and I very strongly believe he has never strayed on me (which is extremely important to me). Still I am really unhappy and disappointed in our marriage. I dont want much. Just a $1 card for my bday or a $5 bouquet of flowers from Walmart on Mothers day. Some nice words on our anniversary. Maybe he could make me breakfast or take me out for a picnic on Valentines Day. SOMETHING. I never forget him on holidays. And actually every time I go to the store I usually pick up something extra for him that I think he'll like. I take good care of myself so that I can still be appealing to him (he has not lost interest in sex with me). I work hard to pay half or sometimes even most the bills. I take care of our kids almost alone since I am able to work from home most the time. I keep the house clean and try to have dinner ready for him bnefore he gets home most weekdays.
My thoughtfulness does not inspire him to even try to do the same. When I try to talk to him he yells at me, dismisses me, and goes and plays video games only to coldly demand sex with me later. (Which I always oblige because I do enjoy sex). I just dont know what to do. I am so sad. I had a lot of choices when I was younger; I chose him. Now Im almost 30 with 2 kids. Hes bad but not bad enough for me to break up our family. Right?
I dont understand Davids answer?
Cassius- that's my fear. I dont want to be used by men for fununtil they can find a woman with no baggage. I certainly wouldnt want that for my daughter (why would men think that of the daughter form a divorce though- its not her fault)? Still I just feel like committing suicide sometimes. This man gives me nothing to be hppy for. I hate this. My life is just wasting away with a cold, critical, man. Still at almost 30 with TWO kids- have I many more appealing options. I guess being alone forever may not be as bad as I think. I dont know. Im just in a lot of pain. I feel like I am too young to live a life devoid of romance.
