Is there a website like YoVille that is for children
My son saw yoville on my computer and is really interested playing. I want to find a kid friendly similar application for him since there are adults on yoville and who knows what might be said. He is not needing the chat part, he is only 7 but he likes the aspect of the game of getting coins or points and moving furniture, having your own room to design and buying things etc. I was thinking maybe there is something online for him but we also have a Wii if there is a game for that. Free is good so online is ideal but safe is more important so if it takes buying a game I can do that. I would love to get suggestions. Thank you in advance.

Parents would you have reacted the same way when you picked your child up from daycare
I run a childcare program, and each month, I send home a "calendar of events" so that each parent knows exactly what activities will take place when they drop their child off. While the children are well-supervised, I do allow a lot of free play in the summer since they are at the day care for 8 to 10 hours a day through out their summer break. The parents are aware of this, and no parent has confronted me with any problems. (during the school year, it is much more structured so that kids have homework done and have had snacks before they go home). ANYWAY, today, as stated on the calendar, the children had "water games day," in which they were asked to bring swim wear, a dry change of clothes, water guns, water balloons, etc. One child didn't bring swimwear--he instead brought another change of regular clothes to change into once the outfit he was wearing got wet (in other words, he only had regular clothes to play in). I told him that he could participate in the water gun wars, but that he shouldn't get on the slip slide because it might ruin his clothes. He agreed to the rules, and after a couple of hours of supervised play, I allowed the children to remain outside riding their bikes (the water wars had ended at this point) while I went inside to clean up the dishes from lunch (one side of the building is made of glass so that I can see what is going on outside even when I'm inside, and the children have "boundaries" so that they never leave my field of vision). Anyway, a couple of the boys asked for permission to go down the slipslide once more, and since they were still in swimwear, I gave them the OK. Once I came back outside, however, the boy in regular clothes had opted to also do the slipslide and had mud all over his shoes, shirt, and legs. Just as I came outside and noticed this, his mom pulled up and jumped out of the car in a rage, telling me that I should have been watching him better than that. I tried to explain to her in a calm matter that this had happened literally just before she had pulled up, and that I hadn't even had a chance to discipline him before she arrived and saw him first. She proceeded to say that I was letting the children "run around like hoodlums" rather than "making them sit down and behave." I was angry that she seemed to suddenly have complaints with my method of childcare, even though her son had been coming for months and she had never once expressed any concerns. Besides, she knew what event was on the calendar, and she could've opted out or told me that he wouldn't be participating if she had a problem. She couldn't have expected that the children would remain completely mud-free when they were playing outside in water where there is lots of grass. I was even more angry that she was disrespecting the childrens' authority figure right in front of them. As the professional in the situation, I had to bite my tongue. I let her say her peace and leave, and once all of the children had left (which gave me time to cool down), I called her (she didn't pick up) and left a message apologizing for having to send her child home messy, explaining that I wasn't justifying those actions, but trying to make her realize that it was a simple misunderstanding (I thought he was allowed to play in the extra clothes, when apparently that is not why she brought them), and explain that occassionally, regardless of the amount of supervision available for the children, little things like this will happen--even as adults, we can't always react quickly enough to stop a child's bad behavior before it happens. This was one of those instances, and I did regret that, I told her. I also told her that since she was paying for childcare, she reserved the right to have a say in how her son was disciplined, and I kindly asked her to call me back so that we could discuss the problems she had with my method of childcare and discipline methods.
Do you think that the parent overreacted? I think she had a reason to be angry, but I truly believe that parents have to have a "things happen" attitude when they bring their children into a place where several other children will be present. Their child is not the only one there, thus cannot be the only child I devote my attention to.
Do you think that I handled this situation appropriately? As a parent, what would you have wanted your childcare provider to have done differently?
What are your thoughts about who was in the right/wrong?
(just for the record, the parent actually did call back and apologize to me, but that's irrelevant. I'm really just curious to see which parents would have reacted the same way and which ones would have handled it differently).
